My counseling style is warm and approachable. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My specialty has been working with children, adolescents, and adults who have complex trauma that stem from abuse, neglect, or other life events. I have also worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, addiction, coping with the pandemic, relationship issues, parenting challenges, childhood trauma, career challenges, adjustment to life changes and grief/loss.
I truly believe that rapport and therapeutic relationships are extremely important for therapy to be successful, therefore we will take some time to make sure I am the right fit for you and I will never be offended if you feel you need a different approach. It takes courage to take the steps to start counseling and I will honor and respect your journey through this season of life. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to walk alongside you with encouragement and support!
I am also a Certified Telehealth Professional per the Florida Certification Board.
I look forward to working with you!

It is important for us to meet first to decide if it is mutually a good fit for your goals.
Supervision is a place to develop the necessary skills and practice of counseling to protect one’s clients and become a competent practitioner. My approach to supervision follows the Developmental Model, which adjusts for and to the level of expertise of the supervisee. As a clinical supervisor, I am here to help you in a safe and supportive environment that allows you to be accountable while learning whether in individual or group supervision.

Florida Department of Health (DOH) regulations for licensure as a mental health counselor(LMHC) call for one (1) hour minimum supervision required in a 2-week period (64B4-2.001); F.A.C. states in part “that the applicant is in compliance with the required 2 years of clinical experience consisting of at least 1500 hours of providing psychotherapy face to face with clients as a registered intern for the profession for which licensure is sought and that the supervision was accrued in no less than 100 weeks.”

Helpful Facts:
1. Supervision on-site or off-site considerations. When you are hired for your first counseling position, that position may include clinical supervision. I choose to have an on-site supervisor when I worked in substance abuse treatment for two years but there are reasons why people choose to have off-site supervision. Why? There is a dual relationship. Some people prefer to have security, control, and be confident that no matter what happened within their position that there would be no issues surrounding documentation of hours. The on-job supervisor’s responsibility is to prioritize the company .Off-site supervisor experiences are objective and can provide further supervision experiences that are not company/policy related,
2. Registered Interns Need Malpractice Insurance. Interns have reduced rates. As soon as you begin your in-school internships you should get your liability insurance and renew each year. I use HPSO. There are several to choose from.
3. Your Title. There is only one way to identify yourself after you are approved by the state. On your business cards, website, all marketing materials, or email signature. The acronym RMHCI is also considered inadequate. Only licensed professionals may use acronyms for their titles. You must list yourself as REGISTERED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR INTERN. No other terminology is allowed. You will see many people misuse this and they can be reprimanded by the state if reported.
